Mexico City police protect the representation of the state of Jalisco for the fifth consecutive day as protest against police brutality erupt in Mexico City.

A Morena (incumbent party) spokesperson approached this newspaper. They requested a meeting, was let in and said that t hey had a document that showed a plot against the President of Mexico. Their intention was that this newspaper would publish it on it’s tuesday run as a great story generated by this paper, and that additionally -they generously offered- it would serve as an opportunity for this newspaper to distance itself from the presumptive destabilizing project . We requested sources and we let them know that if this was some sort of accusation then we’d need a name, last name, and face. The next time we heard about the sinister plot called Project AOB (Ample Opposition Block) was on Tuesday morning’s press conference when the President said that “the people” have given him a plan to debilitate him: the same document the Morena spokesperson had turned into the newspaper a day earlier. So, if the president wants to know who took the AOB plan to the National Palace, he’d just have to ask a distinguished member of his party; a proud representative of his movement, who could also tell him where he found the mysterious document and why did he seek for a newspaper to publish it. He’d just have to invite them for breakfast to the national Palace, once again, so that they can talk about it. Unless the president well knows the story already.

The suspenseful minister

Frozen: this is how the Minister Farjat has most people standing. More than a week has passed since the Supreme Court received a case against the Executive Order allowing military officers more policing roles. Minister Farjat is yet to declare whether she’ll vote for or against the constitutionality of the E.O. For many the uncertainty is major, in the last two months the minister, who was proposed by the President, has been the decisive vote contradicting the intentions of the current administration, so it is truly unknown which way she’ll go.

A morenista who dislikes Trump

At least one member of Morena is not supporting Trump’s re-election. It’s Congressman Porfirio Muñoz Ledo, who clearly expressed his hopes that the democratic party wins in the United States, and trusts Biden’s capacity to win the November elections up north. Muñoz Ledo hosted a virtual meeting with immigrant associations in the United States to touch base on various topics pertinent to the Mexican community in the United States. So at least Morena can show off that one of their most important members is not sympathetic to Trump’s reelection.

Chips and drinks

Yesterday we reported that the Federal Government is planning a widespread media campaign against junk food and sodas. The soft drink industry took note and warned that the people behind the government’s campaign about nutrition will have to consider, as they start a mediatic crusade against sodas, that they’ll find themselves in a bad spot. Soft drinks are not only widely liked because of their flavor, but also because in some areas of the country soft drinks are easier to access than potable water. It’s why they consider that the most successful strategy would call for moderation and balance, giving priority to fruits, vegetables, protein, and potable water rather than satanizing junk foods and soft drinks. We’ll see the campaign soon.

No, but it certainly was someone as stubborn and thin skinned as he is.
